I've changed my layout to one of the Tabula Rasa-ones and now the profile-information is at the END all down the page. (So it is all messed up, at least on my screen. How about you?) Plus the hierarchical tags I changed for don't seem to work. (Or do I need to change ALL for hierarchical? I did it only for languages so far.)

I'm such a newb. *laughs* But it's a good thing to discover dreamwidth further and further.

I believe you can change that in the settings. If you go here, you can specify where the various "modules" show up and set them to be sidebar instead of bottom (also the order each one shows up in, so if you want links first, then tags, you can do so, etc).

That is also where you set the tags to be hierarchical. Right under where you set the tags' location, it should give the option of list/cloud/multilevel. Choose multilevel and you should be good to go.

Ah, there are two places to set the tag-multilayer! :o
But I actually can't find the place to put the profile-tags-and-co-thing on one side. I must be blind and tired? (I've put it back to default first, since the preview-image is just the way I want it, but it didn't work and I still can't find where is the option to position it... elsewhere or rather right where I want it.)

I feel stupid.

It should say something like unassigned, header, sidebar, footer, and under each of those headings is a list of various modules? Make sure all the stuff is set to be in the sidebar rather than the footer using the pulldown menus next to each item.

Now the Group1/2/3 changed to Header/Sidebar/things, and it IS on sidebar...

Wait, this is because I switched inadvertadely to one of the communities.
I have "groups", but not header/sidebar info. So I probably just need to find out what those groups are, right?

If I change from group 1 to group 2 it moves FURTHER down. No other choices.

Wow, that's weird. And seems very badly designed, since there's no way to know what "group one" corresponds to. Have you tried assigning them different groups to see which is which?

Oh, never mind, I see you did say you'd tried to change them. Maybe the style is just messed up somehow. :( Try reporting it as a bug? (With a link to this post for more details.)

Yes, I did. Changing from group 1 to group 2 makes it move FURTHER down to the second part of the colon. Seems the theme I used in a_paris works alright, so I'll change for that one for now.

Oh hey, belatedly (I wandered here via the Latest Entries page), I wonder if the layout might have been set to one-column? Anyway, it looks like you've found a layout that works for you, but I'd be happy to answer any questions if you stumble across another layout you want, which doesn't work.

Thank you so much for your comment, that's sweet of you. I have talked to zvi and it seems that I simply missed a step. (Since the preview showed a sidebar I never looked at the column-part assuming the standard was with a sidebar and so yes, have been in the one-colum design. *sigh*)
(I'm not sure being clear here, blame it on an upcoming cold. *sniffles*)
